Since our incorporation, we have prioritized safety, the reliability of our people, processes and equipment, and the environment in every production process in order to achieve our business targets without impacting communities, the environment and neighboring companies. We take great care to ensure that all our processes – from the shipment of crude oil to our refinery to the delivery of hydrocarbon fuels and petrochemical feedstocks to our customers – exceed customer expectations as well as environmental standards, such that all our activities count toward our Sustainable Development.

To ensure SPRC achieve sustainability over the long term, the company officially developed a Sustainable Development framework in 2011. Although many key sustainability concepts were already built into our culture, procedures, and policies, we recognized the need to strengthen our approach to sustainability through identification of our key stakeholders which consist of staff, shareholders, communities, government agencies, customers vendor/contractor and industry associations, consideration of key sustainability focus areas that are material to us and to our key stakeholders and, lastly, through consideration of key sustainability focus areas that relate specifically to the oil & gas industry.

Nine sustainability focus areas were identified within Sustainable Development’s 3 dimensions. Clear cut aspirations with actionable plans have been set in these nine areas in line with the Company's Vision, Mission and Key Result Areas; stakeholders, operational excellence and people. In additional of these focus areas, Business Conduct, Ethics and Compliance, Environmental Compliance, Risk and Crisis Management are already built into our policies and procedures to engage our family members on a daily basis and ensures Sustainability of SPRC's performance in stewardship of the environment and society as well as financial returns.

We strongly believe that an Incident and Injury Free organization is achievable and, through Incident and Injury Free principle, we have succeeded in creating an organizational culture and environment that is synonymous with world-class safety, reliability and performance.

We engage and inspire our family members to follow the Incident and Injury Free principles which focus on both personal and process safety through utilization of the integral approach and relationship building - always and everywhere. We believe that safety is a right, and we are committed to ensuring that our employees return safely to their families every day, and that the safety culture permeates not just our work lives but our personal lives as well. Ultimately, we aim to set the “Global Standard for Safety and Operational Excellence” by having a safe workplace with zero injuries and zero incidents.

A social license to operate is earned through ethical business practices, moral accountability, transparency and positive community engagement, which are integral to our company vision and mission. To build a long lasting trust and relationship with the surrounding communities, we are committed to run our refinery smoothly without any incidents and impact to social and environment. Our employees are engaged to participate in a variety of community development programs and mutual participation going forward. Additionally, we are committed to improving the quality of life of the surrounding communities in a sustainable way through implementation of self-initiated CSR projects in Map Ta Phut and/or Rayong with dedicated participation of SPRC volunteers under the branded of "Do Good Look Great with Nong Star". Ultimately, our goal is to become a widely respected corporate citizen and strengthen our relationship with the surrounding communities.

SPRC are proactively gearing our operations toward reducing greenhouse gas intensity to ensure minimum impact on the environment and surrounding communities. We have established an Energy Management Team to drive our energy efficiency efforts. We have Energy Conversation Policy to demonstrate our intention and commitment to the effective and efficient energy usage for the business and operations of SPRC. Over the long term, we are committed to exploring other opportunities to further reduce our carbon footprint.

Currently, SPRC are committed to 100% compliance with all emission regulations at all times. We drive improvement through daily monitoring and operational control using a Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS). As part of EHS Management System, we monitors and controls air emissions and has produced a long term an emission reduction roadmap backed by initiatives to reduce emissions.

SPRC is committed to zero spills as a result of its operations. We integrate spill prevention into all aspects of operations and maintenance procedures and activities. We have developed a roadmap to sustain zero spills performance and maintain our spill response capabilities through training and exercises with shareholders, local, national and international oil spill response teams, and partner with the communities to deliver an effective and robust oil & chemical spill prevention and response plan. All those programs, we believe that oil & chemical spills are preventable.

  Water Management

SPRC is committed to reduce its water consumption in order to reduce the impact on the environment and surrounding communities. We have set up a Water Management Team and developed a long term water reduction roadmap. The water consumption is managed according to the roadmap which includes water use reduction and recycling initiatives. Our goal is exploring other opportunities to be a zero raw water consumer.

  Waste Management

We believe that an effective waste management program, together with awareness of our family members, can help reduce waste at our workplace. We have set up a Waste Management Team to focus on ways to reduce waste generation and minimize the impact of waste generated on the environment as well as reduce waste disposal costs. The “3Rs” philosophy – Recycle, Reuse or Recycle is the key concept used for waste management. Our goal is to reduce our landfill waste.
